Some of the applications of this method are drinking water, boiler and reactor and compensation water, water cooling tower, high purity water, laundries and large restaurants, protection of the transmission elements, reverse osmosis and waste purification.
General characteristics of ion exchange resin, is an insoluble polymer matrix that contains unstable ions that can exchange with ions in the environment. In the process of water softness, these materials remove water-hardening ions (calcium and magnesium) and release sodium instead. Ion exchange resins can be divided into two large groups, cationic resins and anionic resins.
The structure of the softener includes a main steel or composite tank, which resin is placed inside, and next to this tank, there is a source of salt for reviving the softener.
According to the substitution agent group attached to the polymer base of the resin, they are divided into four groups: strong cationic resins, weak cationic resins, strong anionic resins and weak softening anionic resins that used in duplex softener (softener system with two tank that one of them is reserved for reversal washing in case of need). The mechanism is that during regeneration and washing, one of them is removed from the circuit and the other one is placed in the softening circuit. This makes the system of the softener never go out of the circuit and it is used in cases where the continuous presence of the hardener has great importance and it cannot be taken out of the circuit during restoration or repairs.
Resin water softener system
Resin softener (mechanical softener or ion-exchange softener) is the most common softener in market, which reduces hardness of water by reducing calcium and magnesium; usually are used for industrial, residential and business uses.
